Description:

This work was commissioned by Konrad Boehmer and my publisher, Tonos Musik Verlag, in honour of the seventieth birthday of his teacher Von Geottfried Michael Koenig, a pioneer of electronic music in the 1940s. Based on Schumann's Carnaval Royal, seven composers each wrote one of the seven parts of Schumann's work, in my case 'Pantaloon and Columbine', which is rather ironic and light, and above all extremely fast. This is an opportunity to use quotations from the work and to treat the musical form with reference to a style, without, however, being under any obligation to adhere strictly to the original form of the piece. I named my part 'Distraction' in reference to the animated character of the piece and developed the melodic form around the two recurring series of four notes.
